Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

The Excellence is a great hotel in the Dominican Republic.  Tim and I are having a relaxing time.  It is hard to believe that it is so cold in Chicago right now when we are experiencing 80 degree weather.  The first full day that we had here was Sunday.  There was not a cloud in the sky - a good welcome for us.  The food has been great so far.  Out of the eight restaurants available to us, we have tried the Mexican restaurant, the Grill, and the Sushi restaurant. They have all been different and very good.

Yesterday was my birthday.  I felt very privileged to wake up at the beach for my February birthday.  Then I felt like a queen when  I came back to find a birthday cake and balloons decorating my room. I can't remember the last time I felt so special.

Tomorrow we are going horseback riding.  I am a little nervous about this venture.  The last time I was on a horse it laid down to fall asleep on the ground.  I didn't know what to do. Horses scare me because I feel like I can't control them.  I will let you know how it goes.

I hope you all are having a great week.  I look forward to writing again soon.

Tim and I go to Saugatuck, Michigan

As you know, I got married last weekend.  It was so much fun.  Unfortunately, we were not able to go on a honeymoon right away.  This weekend, Tim and I decided to go to Saugatuck, Michigan to celebrate our nuptials.  The drive was easy.  We left Saturday at about noon and arrived in the picturesque town at about 2:30pm.  The day could not have been more gorgeous.

I would describe Tim and I as a "laid back" couple.  We usually go places without a plan and hope all will work out.  Tim would say that it he has not always been that way but has quickly learned to adapt to my ways.  Regardless, Tim and I arrived at Saugatuck without a place to stay.  We quickly found out that it wasn't going to be as easy as we thought to find a place.  After countless calls to the surrounding hotels and bed and breakfasts, the people of Saugatuck with their endless patience, help Tim and I find a place.  It had gotten to the point where I was asking the waitress if she would mind hosting some newlyweds from Chicago for the night.  She evidently wasn't excited about the suggestion and with a smile named another hotel we could try to call.

Once we found a place and secured our belongings, Tim and I were let loose on the town.  We ate seafood, met new people and did a lot of dancing.  By the end of the night, Tim even decided that we needed to take dancing lessons.  I think that he wants to look professional the next time we are on the floor!  I am totally up for the challenge.

I had such a phenomenal time  on my mini honeymoon. It has been a glorious first week of marriage.
